Bhubaneswar, Oct 18: The captivating view of the Hunter's Moon, the year's largest and brightest full moon, was witnessed on the night of October 17. This celestial event, known as a supermoon, occurs when the Moon reaches its closest point to Earth, offering a spectacular display.

Coinciding with the auspicious occasion of Kumar Purnima, the supermoon was only 351,519 kilometres away from Earth, making it appear around 14% larger and 30% brighter than usual. This remarkable event lit up the skies and captured the attention of stargazers across the country.

Many took to social media platform X to share stunning images of the supermoon, as this marks the fourth consecutive year in which four supermoons have been visible from Earth.

Jagannath Das, an astronomy enthusiast from Bhubaneswar, shared, “It was an awe-inspiring sight. The brightness and size of the moon were breathtaking. We are fortunate to witness such a celestial spectacle on this auspicious day.”

Pallavi Mishra, another observer, said, “The combination of Kumar Purnima and the supermoon made the night even more special. It felt like a divine connection with nature.”
